Abstract
Purpose : The whole body trauma CT is emergency examination to the patients who can¡¯t move during CT scan. We were looked for optimization exam positions that were put arms and did research in minimization image low quality in order that accurate diagnosis with quick scan time.

Materials and Methods : We used equipment SOMATOM Definition AS+(Siemens, Erlangen, Germany), Lung-chest phantom(RS-330, Fluke Biomedical Company, Everett, USA). Also we measured and compared results to each other positions without another different things. If. Patients hands put on their upon head. We scanned compared to use pig legs that were put on phantom both sides and standard position of without pig leg(A group) and put on the region abdomen of phantom to pig leg according to air gap distance (B~E group). Quantitative anlalysis was evaluated by SNR that was calculated at HU and SD. A qualitative assessment was analysised with effect score to imaging that was red according to artifacts.

Results : A groups position was two-fold decreased SNR 71.9 in comparison with standard lateral positions SNR 162.8. B groups SNR 90(1.8 times) and C groups SNR 105(1.5times) and D group SNR 120.7(1.35times), E group SNR 123.4(1.3 times) was decreased than standard upper positions SNR 162. A qualitative assessment, when keep score at 5 point as standard position was evaluated A group 2.5 point, B group 3 point C group 3.5 group and E group 4 point.

Conclusion : The existing method with arms position that put on side abdomen is limited on image quality. So it s more effective at enhance the diagnostic value and image quality to patient¡¯s arms keep distance air gap from abdomen more than 10CM.
